Design Assistant

Job Description

Balance Power are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity within our dynamic and forward-thinking Design function as a Design Assistant. As a member of the Planning and Design Team, you will provide support and design solutions to the development of battery storage and solar energy generation projects from their initial identification through to ‘planning achieved’ and beyond. Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

- Initial viability assessments of potential development sites utilising spatial design work
- To create & modify high-quality, scaled plans, elevations & sections for design development and planning submission
- To liaise with both internal & external teams to understand project requirements & provide design advice
- To conduct site visits and surveys as and when required
- Present working drawings for use at all project stages

Skills / Qualifications
Level 2/3 CAD qualified or equivalent vocational experience
Ability to converse and negotiate effectively, providing design advice and solutions to internal and external teams
Excellent interpersonal skills
Maintaining accurate records and process driven mindset
Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities
Excellent attention to detail
Strong research skills
Excellent time management and organisation skills.
Knowledge of 2D CAD
Full and clean driving licence is required.

Required Knowledge
A working knowledge of 3D design using Revit would be desirable, but not essential. An interest in construction, energy, renewables, or development would also be beneficial.

Person Specification
The role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills as well as the ability to build strong relationships with external parties. The ability to understand and follow a process from initial instruction through to delivery is essential. The role requires a good level of IT knowledge and analytical skill as well as the ability to think pro-actively and use your initiative to drive projects forward. The role comes with attractive career and professional growth opportunities.
