Design Engineer

Overview

Our client is seeking a skilled Design Engineer to design and develop innovative mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems.

Working closely with internal teams, contractors and consultants, you will play a key role in delivering compliant, high-quality solutions that meet technical, safety and client requirements while supporting projects from concept through to completion.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed designs for mechanical and natural smoke ventilation systems using CAD and other relevant design software.
  


• Ensure designs comply with client specifications, regulatory requirements and international fire safety standards, including EN12101.
  


• Collaborate with architects, contractors and consultants to integrate ventilation systems into wider building designs.
  


• Review CFD analysis to optimise system performance during fire scenarios.
  


• Produce technical documentation, specifications, installation guidance and product information.
  


• Provide technical support throughout the design process and Design Pack creation.
  


• Research and implement new technologies and materials to improve system performance and efficiency.
  

Requirements

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  


• Proven experience designing smoke ventilation systems or similar building services solutions.
  


• Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit or SolidWorks.
  


• Strong understanding of ventilation principles.
  


• Knowledge of relevant building regulations, fire safety codes and ventilation standards including EN12101 and BS9999.
  


• Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and compliance.
  


• Full UK Driving Licence.
  

Desirable

• Experience working on high-rise residential developments, new-build projects or communal building systems.
  


• Familiarity with Building Information Modelling (BIM) workflows.
