Job Description - Design Engineer

You will work as part of an experienced engineering team, where a collaborative approach to problems solving is actively encouraged. Throughout the design process, youll prioritise safety and cost-effectiveness, maintaining our clients quality standards.
Working as part of the Technical team, youll design and develop new insulation kits for refrigerated, light commercial vehicle conversions specifically tailored for existing and new van models entering the market.
Using a collaborative approach, your goal is to provide clear and concise instructions to the production floor, ensuring efficient and high-quality production methods.
As a Design Engineer you will be responsible for
Design, and provide manufacturing instructions for insulated panel kit assemblies. Working with the lining and manufacturing teams to develop robust and repeatable assemblies
Create instructions and test methods for electrical/mechanical systems for refrigerated light commercial vehicle conversions. Integrating products such as road transport refrigeration systems, cameras, temperature controllers, back-up batteries, solar panels, etc. with existing vehicle systems
Research and develop the integration of electrified vehicles and battery powered refrigeration systems. Overcoming challenges presented by power consumption and light-weighting
Work with existing design team, operations and refrigeration/auto-electrical technicians to provide best method solutions
Define and implement projects to improve the product. Reducing complexity by creating standardised, modular components, without compromising quality. Ensuring designs are produce in line with our legislative obligations
Assist in assessment and diagnosis of warranty claims or quality issues found during build or in the field
Create, and administrate changes, to product Bills of Materials keeping ERP system up to date
Evaluating, recommending and implementing engineering initiatives to increase product quality and reduce costs
As a Design Engineer you will be
Proficient with CAD systems (ideally Autodesk inventor and inventor vault) (Required)
Mechanical design (Required)
4-years experience in industry
Hands on experience in manufacturing environment (Required)
Familiar with automotive electrics, especially EVs. (Desirable)
Awareness of refrigeration systems (Desirable)
Comfortable working to project methodologies (Desirable)
HND/Degree in an engineering subject
