A growing UK engineering and technology business delivering innovative, sustainable infrastructure projects is seeking a Design Engineer specialising in DC microgrid power distribution. Known for technical expertise, high-quality delivery, and collaborative working, the organisation designs and implements tailored power and connectivity solutions for complex, large-scale environments.

The Role

The Design Engineer will be responsible for producing high-quality technical designs, specifications, schedules, CAD drawings, and documentation for advanced DC microgrid systems. From initial site surveys through to commissioning, the role involves delivering reliable, efficient, and sustainable power systems suited to demanding project requirements.

Key responsibilities include carrying out engineering calculations, optimising system performance, and ensuring designs meet all safety, performance, and compliance standards. The position will also involve supporting commissioning activities, working closely with internal teams and external partners, and developing solutions to overcome technical challenges.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in delivering complex engineering projects, with strong technical skills in DC microgrid power distribution. Proficiency in CAD, Microsoft Office, and engineering analysis tools is essential, alongside a customer-focused approach and the ability to manage multiple priorities. A relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) or equivalent experience is required. Experience in large infrastructure projects and an understanding of sustainability principles would be advantageous.
