Design Integrator Product Design (Combustion and Turbines Systems)

What you will be doing 

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Design Integrator – Product Design to join the Product Design Combustion and Turbines Team within the Engineering, Technology & Strategy (ET&S) function.

As a Design Integrator – Product Design, you will provide sound knowledge in Design Integration. 

You will also be responsible for and have knowledge in: problem resolution, defining requirements; designing and integrating products, physical & functional systems & product systems; performing technical analysis; verifying products, physical & functional systems and components throughout the product lifecycle. 

Responsibilities 

You will: 

• Be accountable for the execution of the sub-system design and integration process through DTA/APQP and integration of other team members to achieve this. 

• Design of sub-systems using Systems Engineering principles including the use of Robust Design, Systems Engineering, Risk Management (FMEA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques to achieve optimum solutions at product and sub-system level. 

• Support the transition to model-based reusable product lines at system, product system and component level. 

• Be responsible for the creation and buy-off of sub-system requirements, the subsequent flow down of sub-system technical requirements to the appropriate Component Design and Functional teams. 

• Ensure the technical attributes of the sub-system design meet the agreed requirements on behalf of the Technical Lead and Product System Lead. 

• Generate sub-system concepts that comply with both the product requirements and the intent of the sub system strategy. 

• Own the functional and physical Interface Management. 

• Work with and co-ordinate extended (i.e. not necessarily co-located) multi-disciplinary teams. Integrate technical activities with the Product System level, other sub-systems and commodity functions. 

• Ensure continuous improvement through effective lessons learned, knowledge capture and process development.

• Qualified to degree level or equivalent. 

• Domain knowledge in Turbines or Combustion systems. 

• Good understanding of design engineering processes.  

• Strong analytical skills, ability to evaluate data from a variety of sources, experience in data handling and statistical processing tools. 

• Good communication and presentation skills - comfortable liaising with people at all levels of the organisation. 

• Ability to deal with ambiguity and influence key stakeholders.

The professional level and salary of the position will be dependent on the skills and experience of the successful candidate but is anticipated to be Staff Grade 7-10.
