Position: Design Technology Teacher Specialism: Resistant Materials / Engineering / Product Design Location: Telford Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, long-term Key Stages: KS3 & KS4 The Role A secondary school in Telford is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Design Technology Teacher to join its department from September 2026 on a full-time, long-term basis. The successful candidate will teach Design Technology across KS3 and KS4, with a particular focus on Resistant Materials, Engineering, and Product Design. You will deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons that encourage creativity, innovation, technical understanding, and problem-solving while equipping students with valuable design and manufacturing skills. Working within a supportive Design Technology department, you will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons, assessing student progress, maintaining excellent health and safety standards within workshop environments, and supporting students in completing a range of practical design and engineering projects. You will inspire learners to develop confidence in designing, manufacturing, and evaluating products while preparing them for further study and future careers in engineering, construction, manufacturing, and product design.
The Candidate The successful candidate will:
Hold QTS or be an ECT Have experience teaching Design Technology across KS3 and KS4 Be confident delivering Resistant Materials, Engineering, and Product Design Demonstrate excellent classroom and workshop management skills Have a strong understanding of health and safety procedures within practical subjects Be committed to supporting student progress and raising attainment Have a passion for practical education and inspiring young people through innovation and design The School The school provides a welcoming and supportive environment where practical learning is highly valued.
