Are you a passionate Design Technology Teacher looking for a part-time teaching opportunity in Maidstone?
A well-established and supportive secondary school in Maidstone, Kent is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Teacher of Design Technology to join its DT department on a part-time basis, working 2 days per week (0.4).
The school is looking for a committed and motivated teacher who is passionate about Design Technology and Engineering and can inspire pupils through engaging, practical and well-planned lessons.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher looking for a better work-life balance, as well as an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop their experience within a supportive department.
The Role
As a Teacher of Design Technology, you will:
Plan and deliver engaging Design Technology and Engineering lessons across KS3 and KS4, with opportunities to teach KS5 where appropriate.
Deliver challenging and well-organised lessons that support pupils of different abilities.
Use a range of practical and classroom-based teaching strategies and resources.
Assess pupil progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement.
Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement and academic progress.
Work collaboratively with the wider Design Technology department.
Communicate effectively with parents, carers and colleagues regarding pupil progress.
Contribute positively to the wider life of the department and school.
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a teacher who:
Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an appropriate UK-recognised teaching qualification.
Has a relevant degree in Design Technology, Engineering or a related subject.
Has experience teaching Design Technology and/or Engineering within a secondary school setting.
Has experience teaching to GCSE / Level 2, or has completed relevant teacher training placements.
Has strong subject knowledge and an understanding of the current DT curriculum.
Can plan engaging lessons that meet the needs of pupils across a range of abilities.
Has confident classroom and behaviour management skills.
Is enthusiastic, ambitious and keen to work as part of a collaborative department.
Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Experience teaching KS5 Design Technology or Engineering would be advantageous but is not essential.
