Job Description - Development Engineer

Job Title: Development Engineer (Mechanical / Hands-on R&D)
Salary: £30,000 - £50,000 DoE (Multiple Positions Available Due to Ongoing Growth)

Bring Your Designs to Life – Hands-On Mechanical R&D That Makes a Real Impact

Are you a mechanically minded engineer who thrives on hands-on work - welding, fabricating, machining, prototyping, building real things!?

Do you want to create products from scratch and see your ideas come to life right in front of you? If that sounds like your dream job, you’re in the right place.

We’re hiring multiple Development Engineers (Mechanical / Hands-on R&D) to join our fast-growing Product Development team at Accora. This is a rare chance to get stuck into true R&D - you'll be designing and building full-scale prototypes, refining and testing concepts, and playing a direct role in shaping innovative products that improve lives.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Work as part of a small, agile team focused solely on product development
  • Develop product concepts from scratch and prove them with fully functional in-house prototypes.
  • Build and iterate on your own designs - you’ll physically make what you model.
  • Use SolidWorks to design parts, mechanisms, and assemblies.
  • Work hands-on with metal, plastic, and wood using tools like welders, CNC machines, lathes, mills, sheet metal and fabrication equipment.
  • Support pre-launch testing, compliance, and continuous improvement.

Who We’re Looking For:

We’re looking for creative, practical engineers who enjoy solving real-world problems and aren’t afraid to roll up their sleeves.

Must-Have Skills & Qualities:

  • Strong hands-on mechanical ability: confident using tools for welding, fabrication, machining, or general prototyping.
  • Good understanding of mechanical systems and mechanisms.
  • Can-do attitude with a collaborative mindset and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable building things, testing concepts, and working in a fast-paced R&D environment.

Nice to Have (Or Willing to Learn – We’ll Support You!):

  • Experience with mechanical linkages or complex assemblies.
  • Welding, CNC machining, sheet metal work, or general workshop fabrication.
  • If you’ve never used SolidWorks but want to learn - we’ve got you covered with in-house training and support.

Must be Eligible to work in the UK - Unable to support any form of sponsorships and due to site location, driving license and own vehicle preferred.

Why Join Accora?

We’re a company that values innovation, initiative, and impact. You’ll be designing real products that directly enhance the quality of life for people who need extra support due to age, disability, or injury. We’re growing fast - and so can you.

What You’ll Get:

  • Competitive salary
  • Company laptop
  • 25 days’ holiday + public holidays
  • Private medical healthcare cover
  • Ongoing training & development (including SolidWorks and workshop skills)
  • A chance to grow within a company that promotes from within
  • A supportive, inclusive team environment that values your ideas and input
