Development Manager

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading global supplier of ingredients and manufacturing solutions for the food, beverage, and nutrition industries. With over 40 years of expertise, this company holds strategic stocks worldwide and operates premix manufacturing facilities in the UK, China, and the USA. They are renowned for their market expertise and leadership in various ingredient categories.

Role Overview:

As a Beverage Development Manager, you will be instrumental in scoping, developing, and delivering new product development (NPD) and innovation solutions that align with customer needs and company targets. This role encompasses everything from initial concept development to supporting implementation in production facilities, ensuring all products are compliant with legal and regulatory standards.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Gain a thorough understanding of customer requirements to enable accurate cost estimation and project approvals.
• Set clear product approval criteria with customers during the scoping phase.
• Design and develop product formulations that meet customer specifications across quality, regulatory, stability, and cost considerations.
• Oversee product implementation at manufacturing sites, including conducting sensory assessments and ensuring compliance with organoleptic standards.
• Evaluate the impact of packaging on product shelf life and provide shelf-life estimates and validation methods.
• Lead beverage development training and scope trials at internal and third-party manufacturing sites.
• Attend first production runs to oversee operations and troubleshoot any product-related issues.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• BSc/MSc in Food Science, Food Chemistry, or a related field.
• At least three years of experience in RTD and beverage concentrate manufacturing.
• Comprehensive experience in end-to-end recipe development from concept to market.
• Strong leadership and project management skills, preferably with a recognized qualification.
• Deep understanding of ingredient functionality including additives, flavours, and functional ingredients.
• Passion for sustainability and continuous improvement in process design and manufacturing.
