Job Description - Digital Photographer

British Gymnastics has the following full time permanent rol:
Digital Photographer
37 hours per week
Salary circa £30,000 per annum
39 days annual leave (including Bank Holiday and Company days) + 2 wellbeing days a year + weekly exercise and wellbeing hours
This is a dual role working from Lilleshall National Sports Centre, nr Newport, Shropshire and home, with national travel as required .
Gymnastics is an amazing sport that has the power to have a positive impact on people, communities, and our society, helping to build foundations for life for all those who take part. At the heart of that in the UK is the gymnastics community, made up of gymnasts, parents, coaches, clubs and other venues, officials and volunteers – together they form the fabric of a sport that is woven into local communities across the country.
As the UK's national governing body for gymnastics, we have set out a new vision for gymnastics to deliver an uplifting gymnastics experience for all. Through our 1400 member clubs and partners we are helping to ensure gymnastics is enjoyable, safe and open to everyone. We want more people to enjoy the many benefits of the sport and to do this there is much more we can do to showcase why gymnastics is such a fantastic sport
This is an exciting opportunity to meet and work with many different people from world class athletes and coaches, through to people running and taking part in gymnastics at grassroots community clubs. The role will include travel around the UK, occasionally overseas, to cover our events and campaign/product launches, along with media days and squad, staff and product shoots at our headquarters at Lilleshall National Sports Centre in Newport Telford.
As our in-house photographer you will become a specialist in gymnastics photography, supporting the Communications & Engagement and Events teams to tell the story and celebrate the impact of this incredible sport. You will have a passion for visual storytelling, with a strong attention to detail, and be experienced in various photography techniques, lighting and composition.
The Role
The main responsibilities of the role are:
Capture high quality and engaging images that meet our brand standards and help us bring to life our new vision and values for the sport in a diverse and inclusive way
Provide recommendations and art direction for photoshoots where required working with the design and wider marketing team
Develop and maintain photography policies for clubs, partners and events
Develop and maintain GDPR compliant processes for the capture, storage, delivery and sharing of images
Working with the Digital Production Manager, Communications, Marketing and Events teams to develop a work plan for event coverage
Working with the Digital Production Manager to develop a work plan for photography requests across the organisation e.g. Education, Community, Performance departments
Updating and maintenance of the image library, including file naming and tagging, in-line with GDPR policies
Ensure paid for imagery / external stock imagery is tagged and stored appropriately in our library with correct usage rights and records
Work with Marketing to provide selected image access to the wider organisation to help them self-serve
The Person
Applicants will need to demonstrate:
A Degree (or equivalent) in Photography

or

demonstrable experience of photography, editing and logging; and be able to demonstrate technical skills, organisational capabilities and creative expertise
Technical and creative expertise in digital photograph and editing techniques
Understanding GDPR compliance processes and intellectual property laws in order to produce policies that protect the gymnastics community and the organisations IP and assets.
Experience and knowledge of systems of work and archiving including:

Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop (or alternatives)
Commercial, marketing and reportage photography
Lighting techniques for headshots and product shoots
Image rights and IP law
Commercial image platforms
