Job Description - Director Marketing

The
Director, Marketing
is responsible for setting and executing the
global marketing direction for Quark Software, spanning brand, product marketing, demand generation, partner marketing, digital experience, and creative execution across its markets and products.
 


Reporting to the VP Global Marketing, this role owns the
day-to-day leadership and performance of the global marketing function. It will hold accountability for new logo and customer expansion pipeline impact, partner influence, brand credibility, market positioning and campaign ROI. Additionally, it will help drive the Quark’s mandate to increase AI-powered marketing processes and lead conversion and qualification technology for Quark Publishing Platform, QuarkXPress and the wider app portfolio 


The Director, Marketing is expected to operate at a progressively senior level in strategic thinking, cross-functional influence, and commercial ownership, managing and guiding the product marketing, partner marketing, creative design and web & digital teams to execute against clear priorities, metrics, and objectives across regions. 


Operating at the intersection of
product, sales, partnerships, and brand management, the Director, Marketing ensures that Quark’s portfolio is clearly differentiated from competitors - particularly in highly regulated and complex technology environments - through USP messaging and ICP audience accuracy. Responsibility is  to consistently communicate with our audiences through targeted campaigns including account-based marketing (ABM) initiatives, and is effectively activated through demand generation, partner ecosystems, and digital channels.

Commercial & Pipeline Impact 



  • Contribution to global pipeline targets across all Quark products 



  • Growth in marketing-sourced and marketing-influenced revenue 



  • Improved funnel conversion rates from first acquisition through SQL to Opportunity with accurate attribution and ROI reporting  


Product & Portfolio Positioning 



  • Clear, differentiated positioning for all Quark products 



  • Consistent messaging and value articulation across global regions and channels 



  • Successful market introduction and adoption of strategic products and capabilities 


Partner & Ecosystem Performance 



  • Growth in partner-sourced and partner-influenced pipeline, particularly via Microsoft and strategic partners 



  • Effectiveness of partner enablement and co-marketing programmes 



  • Alignment of partner marketing activity to Quark’s strategic priorities 


Brand & Digital Performance 



  • Improved brand consistency, credibility, and recognition in target enterprise markets 



  • Measurable improvements in website engagement, conversion, and performance powered by AI agents and automation  



  • Strong governance and ROI from outsourced agencies and digital investments 


Organisational Leadership 



  • Clear prioritisation, focus, and accountability across the marketing organisation 



  • Strong team performance, engagement, and development 



  • Readiness of the marketing function to scale with company growth 


 


Responsibilities 



  • Define and execute Quark’s
    global marketing strategy
    across all B2B and B2C products and markets
     



  • Lead and develop the marketing team, ensuring clarity of direction and accountability 



  • Oversee product marketing and demand generation strategy, partner marketing and ecosystem activation, brand, creative delivery, visual direction, Web, digital experience, SEO, and conversion optimisation 



  • Ensure marketing execution aligns with sales priorities and pipeline goals, partner and alliance strategies, and product roadmaps and strategic initiatives 



  • Set clear metrics, goals, and reporting frameworks for all marketing functions 



  • Collaborate with internal sales teams to align marketing activity with pipeline goals 



  • Represent Quark in meetings, events, and partner ecosystem initiatives 



  • Manage global marketing budgets and ensure ROI across programmes and channels 



  • Act as a developing senior marketing voice in executive and cross-functional forums 



  • Support the VP Global Marketing and senior leadership as a trusted advisor 



  • Track and report on performance, engagement, and contribution to revenue using Salesforce CRM for activity tracking, and AI agents and automation for productivity 


 


Skills and Qualifications 


 



  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing or related business field 



  • Demonstrable marketing management and/or leadership experience within
    a software
    company or similar complex technology environment
     



  • Proven track record of owning
    global marketing delivery and execution 



  • Exceptional at marketing campaign execution and analysis, using data for decision-making and planning 



  • Strong understanding of product marketing and demand generation, partner-led and ecosystem-driven growth, digital marketing, web platforms, and performance analytics 



  • Result and goal-oriented mindset with a start-up mentality for growing the opportunity pipeline 



  • Experience leading senior managers and cross-functional teams, valuing the importance of attention to detail and CRM usage (Salesforce experience preferred but not essential) 



  • Commercial mindset with clear accountability for pipeline and revenue outcomes 



  • Strong executive communication and stakeholder management skills, with a career ambition to progress to senior leadership 

  • Competence in using AI tools with an innovative mindset for adopting new AI-powered and automated methods for marketing operations.
