Talent STEM is partnering with an innovative technology firm to find a Director of Business Development for their growing US team.  Our client is transforming how new molecules and materials are created, using cutting-edge tech to drive progress in industries like pharmaceuticals and biotech.  Backed by top global investors, they’re expanding fast and need someone to lead their commercial efforts in the US.

This is a key position where you’ll focus on growing the business by finding new opportunities, building a strong pipeline and securing partnerships, mainly in pharma and biotech.  You’ll use your industry contacts to connect with decision-makers, represent the company at events and help shape their market approach.  Working closely with senior leaders, you’ll turn leads into contracts and play a big part in their ambitious plans.

• Generate leads and hit sales targets by building a healthy pipeline.
• Match the company’s tech to market needs, targeting high-impact opportunities.
• Reach out to industry leaders using your network and creative outreach.
• Attend conferences, trade shows and virtual events to raise the company’s profile.
• Handle proposals and contracts from start to finish.
• Work with leadership to refine the commercial strategy.

• Training in business administration, marketing or sales.
• Solid experience in pharmaceuticals or biotech.
• A life sciences degree (MSc minimum).
• 6-7+ years in senior business development, with a proven record of landing big deals (multi-million-pound contracts).
• A strong network in pharma and biotech.
• US market experience.
• Client-facing skills and a history of building something significant at a company.

• An MBA or advanced science/engineering degree.
• Great teamwork and communication skills.
• Sharp business sense and a results-driven attitude.
• Willingness to travel.
