Job Description - Director of People

We are seeking an experienced Director of People, HR and Resources for a leading charity organisation based at one of their offices in Leeds, Bradford, Sheffield, Wakefield on a full-time onsite office basis working 37 hours per week. This role requires regular travel to their other sites across Yorkshire and the Humberside as and when needed.

My client are looking for an experienced HR Director who can deliver strategic and operational direction for their people, HR, and resources functions.

The postholder will shape and implement a comprehensive workforce strategy that ensures their policies, practices, and culture are legally compliant, values-led, and grounded in trauma-informed principles. With responsibility for the full employee lifecycle, the Director will champion staff wellbeing, equity, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring their organisation remains an employer of choice.

This is a pivotal position that will shape their future – strengthening their culture, supporting staff to thrive, and ensuring our resources are aligned to deliver impact. The postholder will embody their values of collaboration, inclusion, and equity, placing women at the centre of everything we do while positioning them as a leader.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a senior HR leadership role / HR Director level role.
  • CIPD or other relevant HR/OD qualification.
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience in leading inclusive recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Proven ability to implement HR systems and performance frameworks.
  • Confidence in applying health & safety policies and coordinating premises oversight.

Benefits:

25 days holiday increasing by 1 day per year to a max of 30 days plus bank holidays, Pension 5% starting point (increasing to 10% with length of service) plus many more.
