• Salary: From £30,000 - £33,000 (inclusive of London Living Allowance)

• Hours: 35 hours (spread over 6 days per week; working pattern will be discussed

INTRODUCTION

Life Groups play a key role in the life of All Souls. They are our front line of discipleship and pastoral care, and so they help us to be a family in a big church. Overseen by the Adult Discipleship Team, around 1,000 people met regularly across London to study the Bible, to pray, to share life and enjoy fellowship in a variety of groups: Fellowship Groups, Women’s Bible Study, Roots and one.students. 

The 20s & 30s group at All Souls is a large, active part of the community which organises social and other events. Their aim is to integrate this community into the wider life of All Souls, whilst addressing specific issues for this demographic and welcoming newcomers in. 

JOB PURPOSE

All Souls is looking for an enthusiastic male or female Discipleship Worker with a keen heart for seeing people grow in their walk with the Lord Jesus. This role would suit someone who has completed an initial period of training, for example as a church apprentice studying on a Cornhill-type Bible course. As a Discipleship Worker, you would have the opportunity to put your training into practice, test your calling to further ministry in the future, while learning from a diverse and talented ministry team. 

You will work in the adult discipleship team, with a focus on one of the ministry areas, to enable ongoing discipleship among that group’s leaders and members. You will also be part of one of All Souls’ congregational teams. As part of this team, you will help to pastor this congregation, getting to know a wide range of people. 

Reporting into a member of the Adult Discipleship Team, this role will require a close working relationship with both the staff team and volunteers to implement the All Souls vision laid out by the Ministry Team.

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

Essential

• A committed Christian in full sympathy with the evangelical stance and mission of All Souls 


• A passion for discipleship with a track record of fostering this through Bible-reading and prayer


• Servant-hearted, self-motivated, positive can-do attitude and forward thinking


• Organised, competent using IT and with a focus on timely delivery and excellent communication skills


• A team player willing to seek advice and able to lead and envision the team of volunteers


• Equipped with strong administrative, self-management and delegation skills


• A commitment to the highest standards of safeguarding practice.


• Completion of a 2-year ministry apprentice programme, such as The Cornhill Training Course, Relay, or an equivalent programme


• To join All Souls Church as your regular place of worship.

Desirable 

• Further theological or training


• Experience in using Google-Suite applications


• Familiarity with database systems


• Comfortable leading from the front and delivering training.

MEASURES OF SUCCESS

• A growing confidence and experience in ministry, training and discipleship.


• The Adult Discipleship Team is enabled to increase the number of one-to-ones they are able to do.


• The smooth running of one of the Life Group programmes.
