Document Controller (6-Month Contract)

Do you want to play a key role in aviation in the North East? We have an exciting opportunity for a Document controller to join our team on a 6-month contract to ensure vital technical records are managed with precision within the aviation sector!

What You’ll Do

As a Document Controller, you’ll take ownership of the preparation, management, and secure storage of documentation within the Technical Planning department. From reviewing, scanning, and archiving paperwork to managing numbering, filing, and retrieval systems, you’ll make sure every document is accurate, accessible, and safely stored.

You’ll work closely with Engineers and Planning staff to ensure compliance, accuracy, and seamless document flow directly supporting the delivery of safe, efficient, and compliant aviation operations.

Responsibilities

Document Control & Management

• Manage the intake, verification, and storage of documents
• Control and supervise the flow of documents in and out of the department
• File and archive relevant documentation, learning to identify what must be retained
• Ensure security and confidentiality of sensitive business documents

Collaboration & Support

• Liaise with the planning team and, where required, external parties to distribute information
• Work with Engineers to ensure documentation accuracy and request corrections where needed
• Assist planning engineers with work package racking and management of the Workpack register, recognising its importance at Certificate of Release to Service (CRS)

Systems & Reporting

• Learn to use data from the aircraft Technical Log and defect lists
• Carry out IT/data entry for various customers
• Produce reports from Tracking Plus to assist customers and support the Check Manager

Safety & Compliance

• Ensure all document processes meet compliance requirements
• Actively support a positive safety culture through hazard reporting, continuous improvement, and application of Human Factors principles

• Strong understanding of workflow and ability to meet deadlines
• Excellent planning and organisational skills
• High level of attention to detail and analytical mindset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Collaborative team player with the ability to liaise confidently with internal and external stakeholders
