Job Description - Driver - Mental Health Residential Care Home
At Hatzfeld we provide residential care for adults with varying needs such as Asperger’s, Schizophrenia or eating disorders to age-related illnesses or Dementia. A person-centred care plan is produced tailored to each individual’s specific needs.

To provide safe, reliable, and supportive transportation for residents of a mental health residential care home. The role involves driving a manual vehicle (up to 9 seats) to transport residents to appointments, activities, and community engagements while ensuring their comfort, dignity, and wellbeing.
Must live in the UK to apply. Sponsorship will not be offered.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate a manual transmission vehicle with seating for up to 9 passengers.
Transport residents to and from medical appointments, therapy sessions, social activities, and community outings.
Ensure all passengers are seated safely and using seatbelts in accordance with legal requirements.
Provide a calm, respectful, and supportive environment during journeys, being mindful of residents’ mental health needs.
Assist residents in and out of the vehicle when required, ensuring mobility and accessibility needs are met.
Plan routes effectively, allowing for punctual arrival at scheduled appointments.
Conduct daily vehicle checks (fuel, oil, tyres, cleanliness) and report any maintenance issues promptly.
Keep the vehicle clean, tidy, and presentable at all times.
Maintain accurate records of journeys, mileage, and any incidents.
Communicate effectively with care staff regarding schedules, delays, or resident concerns.
Follow all relevant health and safety, safeguarding, and confidentiality policies.
Respond appropriately to any emergencies or challenging situations during transport.
Essential:
Full UK driving licence with the ability to drive a manual vehicle.
Experience driving multi-passenger vehicles (up to 9 seats).
Good knowledge of local routes and navigation.
Strong sense of responsibility and commitment to safety.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to remain calm and patient in a variety of situations.
Desirable:
Previous experience working in a care or support setting.
Understanding of mental health conditions and the needs of vulnerable adults.
Basic first aid training.
