About the Role

Key Responsibilities:

• 
  Preparation and Support:
  
  
  • Prepare resources and materials for practical lessons, ensuring they are well-maintained and readily available.
  
  
  • Assist teachers in setting up and clearing classrooms for practical activities.
  
  
  • Liaise with suppliers to source materials and equipment.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Technical Expertise:
  
  
  • Provide technical support to teachers and students in the use of machinery and equipment.
  
  
  • Maintain and calibrate machinery and equipment to ensure their safe and effective operation.
  
  
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of the DT department's resources.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Health & Safety:
  
  
  • Implement and maintain high standards of health and safety within the DT workshops.
  
  
  • Conduct safety inductions for students and ensure they adhere to all safety procedures.
  
  
  • Report any safety hazards or concerns to the relevant personnel.
  
  
  
  


• 
  Other Responsibilities:
  
  
  • May contribute to the development and improvement of the DT curriculum (as appropriate).
  
  
  • Play a role in promoting the DT department and its activities within the school.
  
  
  
  

The Ideal Candidate

• Qualified DT Technician or relevant technical qualification and experience.


• Strong practical skills and experience in working with a variety of materials and equipment (e.g., wood, metal, electronics).


• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with staff and students.


• A commitment to health and safety and the ability to create a safe learning environment.


• A flexible and adaptable approach to work, able to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
