An established UK infrastructure contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Project Manager to lead the delivery of two major National Grid substation projects not too far from each other.
The business is expanding its presence within the UK energy sector, with a growing pipeline of civil project across substation and HVDC. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of two significant project from the early stages through construction, commissioning and final handover.
For this role, you will need to have experience working for a Tier 1 contractor delivering civil works across substation-based projects, with proven experience taking projects through to full handover.
The Role
As Project Manager, you will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the two projects, coordinating civil subcontract teams while maintaining a strong relationship with the client and wider project stakeholders.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading the project through planning, procurement, construction, commissioning and handover. Managing multidisciplinary project and site teams Taking responsibility for programme, cost, quality and overall project performance. Ensuring works are delivered safely and in accordance with project requirements. Managing subcontractors, suppliers and key delivery partners. Working within NEC contract arrangements and ensuring contractual obligations are effectively managed. Maintaining strong communication with the client and wider project stakeholders. Identifying project risks and ensuring appropriate mitigation measures are implemented. About You
We are looking for an established Project Manager with experience delivering complex civil projects across the Transmission & Distribution market.
Ideally, you will have:
Previous experience working at Project Manager level for a Tier 1 or major infrastructure contractor. Experience delivering major civil engineering projects across substation civils Strong knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts. Experience managing project programmes, commercial performance and multidisciplinary teams. SMSTS and an appropriate CSCS National Grid experience would be advantageous; however, candidates with experience across any DNO will be considered. Strong client and stakeholder management skills. A relevant engineering, construction or project management qualification. The Opportunity
This is an opportunity to join a well-established contractor at a point of significant growth within the UK transmission and distribution market. The successful candidate will have responsibility for two major substation project while also benefiting from a strong longer-term pipeline of work within the energy sector.
Package
The role offers a highly competitive salary of £65,000-£85,000 (DOE), making it one of the stronger Project Manager packages currently available within the market.
Ideally, candidates will be based within a reasonable distance of the project. However, for those living further afield, full lodge and subsistence payments can be provided on top of the base salary, opening the opportunity up to candidates across the UK.
The wider package also includes the choice of a company car or car allowance, depending on individual preference.
