Banana Moon Hamilton is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to support our Nursery Cook in the kitchen as well as in the nursery classroom as an Early Years Assistant during the lunchtime period. This is an exciting opportunity to join a happy nursery where we focus on encouraging children to be children, learning through fun and engaging play. You will be working with a dedicated team in a caring, family-friendly, characterful, and stimulating environment which is inviting to children, families, and staff.

We are looking for a suitable candidate to work approximately 16-20 hours over a shift pattern consisting of:

Tuesday 2-5

Wednesday 8-5

Thursday 2-5

Friday 2-5

Possibility of more hours to cover in the cook's absence or cover lunches within the rooms if and when required.

Job Purpose:

Nursery Assistants ensure a high quality, balanced provision of leading practice education and care is delivered; creating a safe, caring, and welcoming setting in which families are happy to entrust their child and where their child is encouraged and supported to flourish in an enabling and stimulating environment. To adhere to Banana Moon policies and procedures, meet legislative requirements and follow the education curriculum, delivering standards which ensure the highest possible inspection grading.

Kitchen Assistant:

· To support our nursery cook to ensure the preparation of a balanced, healthy nutritious and tasty diet for children, following the specifications set in Banana Moon seasonal recipes.

· Adhering to the Policies & Procedures of Banana Moon Day Nursery and in compliance with the Environmental Health-Food Safety, Health and Safety guidelines.

Qualifications and experience required:

Essential:

• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2
• Experience of implementing Health and Safety systems and hygienic practice
• Knowledge & understanding of religious and cultural preferences and dietary choices of children/families
• Knowledge & understanding of allergens
• DBS enhanced disclosure within the child workforce sector

Desirable:

• Food Hygiene Certificate Level 3

• Paediatric 12hr First Aid certificate

• Experience of working within a commercial kitchen environment
• Catering Qualifications
• Experience of implementing allergy management systems
• Past experience within the early years sector with an early years qualification
