Job Description - Early Years Educator

2-month contract with a local authority

Summary

The Early Years Educator will serve as an Early Years Teacher on a 2-month contract with a local authority. The role involves delivering a high-quality learning environment that stimulates, challenges, and supports children's interests while meeting their individual developmental needs. The educator will contribute to creating an engaging Early Years curriculum that enables children aged 2â5 to achieve at or above expected levels across all areas of learning.

Responsibilities

Oversee the implementation of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) for children aged 2â5.

Lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of a high-quality curriculum rooted in anti-discriminatory practice.

Provide stimulating, challenging, and engaging learning experiences tailored to childrenâs needs and interests.

Act as a key person for an allocated group of children.

Assess and monitor childrenâs development through observations, achievement recording, and maintaining high-quality developmental records.

Requirements

Essential Experience

Minimum of 2 yearsâ experience working directly with children under 5 in a group daycare environment.

Experience working effectively as part of a team in a childcare or early years setting.

Experience using IT systems and digital tools relevant to childcare practice.

Essential Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a registered Teacher Reference Number.

Enhanced DBS check (satisfactory).

Demonstrable knowledge of EYFS and child development principles.

Additional Information

Working hours: 30 hours per week

Location: 1 Forge Place, London, Camden, NW1 8DQ, United Kingdom.

Interviews will take place at Harmood Children Centre, 1 Forge Place, Ferdinand Street, London, NW1 8DQ.

Enhanced DBS required.

Bi-weekly payment schedule.
