A highly regarded Sixth Form College in Reading is seeking to appoint an outstanding Economics Teacher to join its successful Social Sciences department from September. The successful candidate will teach Economics at Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and intellectually rigorous lessons that develop students' analytical thinking, quantitative reasoning, and evaluative skills.
Students follow a broad A-Level curriculum covering both microeconomics and macroeconomics, exploring topics including market structures, inflation, unemployment, monetary and fiscal policy, international trade, globalisation, and economic development. You will prepare learners for A-Level examinations while encouraging them to analyse current affairs and apply economic theory to real-world issues.
You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through enrichment activities such as economics societies, guest speaker events, university preparation, enterprise initiatives, and debating competitions.
Teach A-Level Economics to KS5 students
Deliver engaging, challenging, and academically rigorous lessons
Prepare students for A-Level examinations
Develop students' analytical, evaluative, and quantitative skills
Assess progress and provide high-quality feedback
Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development
Support economics enrichment activities and university preparation

Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification
Experience teaching Economics at KS5
Excellent subject knowledge in Economics
Strong communication and classroom management skills
Commitment to delivering outstanding teaching and learning
Desirable
Experience teaching A-Level Economics
Experience within a sixth form or post-16 setting
Ability to contribute to wider Social Sciences provision
A strong track record of excellent examination outcomes and university progression support
