Reporting to the Publisher and working closely with the Editorial team, the Editorial Coordinator will support the day-to-day running of Radcliffe’s cardiology journals. This role is ideal for a graduate with a science background who is interested in academic publishing. The focus will be on processing manuscripts, managing author and reviewer correspondence, and ensuring smooth editorial workflows from submission through to publication. The role provides hands-on experience across the publishing process, with opportunities to gradually take on more responsibility in journal coordination and editorial administration.
Scale & Scope
The Editorial Coordinator will support the production and publication of several journals within the Radcliffe Cardiology portfolio. They will work across multiple titles, coordinating tasks under the guidance of the Publisher and wider Editorial team.
Manuscript Processing & Editorial Workflows
Process incoming submissions using our manuscript tracking systems.
Support standardisation of workflows and help maintain smooth, efficient processes.
Monitor submission pipelines, turnaround times, and key performance indicators.
Ensure manuscripts move through peer review and production stages in a timely manner.
Author, Reviewer & Editor Support
Act as the first point of contact for author and reviewer queries.
Draft and manage correspondence regarding submissions, revisions, and resubmissions.
Assist editors with reviewer invitations, follow-ups, and response tracking.
Maintain accurate databases for authors, reviewers, and editorial activity.
Ensure Editorial Manager manuscripts are up to date as well as email templates for authors and editors.
Editorial Administration
Track and process permissions requests, rights, and copyright documentation.
Prepare reports and gather data for editors and the Publisher.
Assist with administrative tasks including minute-taking, contract support, and record keeping.
Coordinate simple promotional activities such as author video requests or material for newsletters/social media (with support from Marketing).
Support editor recruitment activities and help organise materials for Editorial Boards.
Additional Support
Provide cover during staff absences when required.
Occasionally attend academic meetings or conferences (with support and guidance).
