We are looking for a passionate and resilient Educational Psychologist to join our team at this Alternative Provision based in Lancashire. This is a chance to work with students who may have experienced challenges in mainstream education, providing vital support to help them re-engage with learning, develop their social and emotional skills, and achieve their full potential.

About the Role:

As our Educational Psychologist, you will play a critical role in understanding and addressing the complex needs of our students. Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting specialist psychological assessments to gain a deep understanding of students' cognitive, learning, social, emotional, and behavioural profiles, considering their individual histories and experiences.
• Developing and implementing tailored intervention strategies to address identified needs, promote positive behaviour change, and enhance emotional well-being. This may involve individual therapy, group work, and the development of bespoke support plans.
• Providing expert consultation and training to staff on understanding complex needs, managing challenging behaviour in a trauma-informed way, and creating a psychologically informed environment.
• Working collaboratively with teachers, support staff, parents/carers, and external agencies (e.g., social services, CAMHS) to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to student support.
• Contributing to the development and review of the Alternative Provision's policies and practices related to SEMH, behaviour management, safeguarding, and inclusion.
• Supporting the transition of students into and out of the Alternative Provision.
• Providing crisis intervention and support as needed.
• Maintaining accurate and confidential records in line with professional and ethical guidelines.
• Engaging in ongoing professional development to remain current with best practices in educational psychology and the specific needs of alternative provision settings.

What We Are Looking For:

• A Doctorate in Educational Psychology (or equivalent qualification recognized by the Health and Care Professions Council - HCPC).
• HCPC registration as a Practitioner Psychologist.
• Experience of working with children and young people with SEMH needs and/or in alternative provision settings is highly desirable.
• Strong assessment and intervention skills in areas such as trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and behaviour management.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
• A thorough understanding of relevant legislation and guidance related to SEND, safeguarding, and alternative provision.
• The ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating initiative and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to a person-centred approach and a belief in the potential of all young people.
• A valid driving license and access to a vehicle may be required for travel within Lancashire.
