Pertemps Bristol Industrial are recruiting for a skilled and motivated Electrical, Controls & Instrumentation (ECI) Engineer to join one of our clients based in BS21, Clevedon.
Reporting to the Lead Controls Engineer, this role plays a key part in the design, development, and commissioning of advanced control systems for industrial applications.
You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure engineering standards are met, and project objectives are delivered on time and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and development of electrical control systems and instrumentation.
Assist in resolving engineering issues by identifying effective technical solutions.
Contribute to project planning, manage individual work priorities, and monitor task progress.
Ensure systems comply with safety standards, modular design principles, and industry regulations.
Assist in the creation and review of technical documentation including manuals and service instructions.
Participate in factory and field testing and provide technical support during system commissioning.
Engage in continuous improvement activities and adopt new tools and technologies under guidance.
Qualifications & ExperienceEssential:
HND or Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, Controls, or a related engineering discipline.
Some experience in PLC/HMI programming (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
Understanding of electrical schematics, PID loops, and P&ID diagrams.
Awareness of industry standards (e.g., EN/UL61010, EN60204, EN61326-1, SIL/EN61508).
Strong communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
Proficiency in English (verbal and written).
Desirable:
5+ years of experience in a similar engineering role.
Experience in regulated industries and familiarity with risk assessment techniques (HAZOP, FMEA).
Exposure to web development tools (HTML5, JavaScript, ASP) is an advantage.
