Electrical Design engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Design and Engineering: Lead the design of electrical systems for 11kV to 132kV substations, including HV (High Voltage) switchgear, transformers, protection systems, earthing systems, and control & auxiliary systems.
  


• Project Support: Collaborate with project managers, senior engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
  


• Compliance and Standards: Ensure all designs are compliant with relevant national and international standards (e.g., IEC, BS, ANSI), industry best practices, and client requirements.
  


• Protection and Control Systems: Develop detailed protection schemes and relay settings for electrical protection and control systems.
  


• Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed design drawings, specifications, calculations, reports, and other project-related documentation.
  


• Design Optimization: Evaluate and optimize designs to improve efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness of electrical systems.
  


• Coordination and Communication: Liaise with internal teams (e.g., civil, mechanical, and safety engineers) and external stakeholders (e.g., clients, contractors) to ensure smooth project execution.
  


• Site Visits and Inspections: Attend site visits and inspections to ensure designs are implemented correctly and resolve any technical issues that arise during construction or installation.
  

Requirements

Key Skills and Experience

• Educational Qualifications:
  




•  degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or a related field.

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in electrical design for substations, specifically within the 11kV - 132kV range.
    
  
  
  • Proven experience with electrical systems design, including switchgear, transformers, control systems, protection systems, and earthing.
    
  
  
  • Familiarity with electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, (ETAP essential), DigSILENT, or similar tools) is essential.
    
  
  
  • Strong knowledge of electrical standards, regulations, and industry guidelines.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to produce clear reports and documentation.
