Electrical Design Engineer

These electrical design engineer / EDS Engineer roles involve generating new vehicle electrical schematics, harness design and routing to support the development of new products.

You will be creating and implementing new and fresh ideas for vehicle harness architecture from concept to production including 2D & 3D design, development, test, validation and design release.

These roles are open to more junior engineers up to senior who posses a broad range of electrical design skills and a good understanding of 2D schematic design, 2D/3D harness design, fuse and wire sizing, calculations, component selection and routing.

Other skills:

* Degree level, HNC or equivalent in electrical engineering, electronics or similar

* Perform engineering calculations for electrical load balancing and wire sizing

* Experience working with low voltage 12/24V DC vehicle systems

* Demonstrate ability to take ownership for your design/development of Electrical and Electronic subsystems – From concept through test, to manufacture

* Usage of industry standard Electrical 2D packages – Zuken E3 ideal but others considered - Catia, Solidworks, AutoCAD Electrical.

* Good electrical design skills within automotive, off-highway, mobile machinery, rolling stock etc

* Good communication skills both written and verbal to offer positive contributions in design meetings, to clients and across the business groups

* Understanding of CAN networks and physical EMC testing would be ideal
