Electrical Design Lead

The Opportunity

We have partnered with a Tier 1 contractor and leading national infrastructure business to help grow the building services design team within their in-house design consultancy. This is a leadership role within the electrical design team: you would oversee and coordinate electrical building services design on major, complex construction projects, acting as the central point for technical excellence, team leadership and client liaison.

The role is available in Manchester or Liverpool.

You would take full responsibility for electrical design delivery across major projects, managing the electrical design team, integrating disciplines, ensuring quality control and driving innovation on high-value schemes. It suits a chartered engineer with the technical depth and leadership capability to own the electrical function on significant work.

Salary is £60,000 to £70,000 depending on experience, plus a full benefits package.

What You'll Be Doing

Leading and coordinating electrical building services design on major, complex projects

*

Taking full responsibility for electrical design delivery from concept through to construction

*

Managing the electrical design team, balancing utilisation, capability and workload

*

Setting and maintaining quality standards across all electrical design output

*

Providing high-level technical advice in electrical building services engineering

*

Representing electrical engineering in design coordination and client meetings

*

Playing an active part in business development, bid submissions and winning new work

*

Maintaining a programme of CPD to keep the team’s competence current

*

Driving innovation, sustainable design and BIM implementation

What We're Looking For

*

Chartered Engineer and member of CIBSE or IET, with a degree in Electrical Building Services or Electrical Engineering

*

Significant electrical building services design experience on large, complex projects

*

Experience of managing and driving a multi-disciplinary technical or engineering team

*

Strong technical authority across electrical building services systems

*

Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical concepts for wider audiences

*

Experience with quality procedures and document control in engineering design

*

Able to meet BPSS security clearance requirements
