First Military Recruitment are currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager on behalf of one of our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead the electrical engineering team responsible for the design and development of ground support equipment. Oversee engineering projects from development, through detailed design, validation and release to production. Allocate engineering resources effectively across multiple projects. Ensure engineering deliverables are completed on schedule, within scope and aligned with project budgets. Provide technical guidance and decision-making across complex engineering challenges. Support new product development initiatives and product enhancement programmes. Conduct performance reviews and support career development planning. Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability and continuous improvement. Support recruitment and development of engineering talent within the organisation. Ensure electrical designs comply with customer specifications, applicable standards and regulations including EN12312, EN1915 and Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. Approve electrical design outputs including drawings, calculations, specifications and technical documentations. Oversee the Engineering Change Order (ECO) process. Lead structured design review. Ensure appropriate design verification and validation testing is conducted prior to production release. Ensure electrical designs are optimised for manufacturability, assembly and serviceability. Work closely with manufacturing teams to resolve build issues and support production efficiency. Support value engineering initiatives to improve product cost competitiveness. Collaborate with supply chain team to support component standardisation and supplier integration. Work closely with mechanical engineering teams to ensure integrated system design. Collaborate with sales and product management on customer-specific technical requirements. Support after-sales and customer care teams by translating field feedback and warranty data into product improvements. Contribute to cross-department initiatives that support operational excellence. Drive improvements in engineering processes and workflows. Promote design standardisation, modular product architecture and component reuse. Support innovation in electrical design, component selection and manufacturing technologies. Identify opportunities to improve product performance, reliability and sustainability. Develop, set and monitor KPI’s related to delivery, quality, efficiency and cost. Skills and Qualifications:
Degree in electrical engineering or related discipline. Significant experience in electrical engineering designing heavy equipment, vehicle or mobile machinery systems within a manufacturing or OEM environment. PLC Experience 7 years + demonstrable leadership experience within an engineering department. Strong experience using 2D and 3D CAD platforms (e.g. EPlan, SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD Electrical, DraftSight or similar) and engineering documentation control. Knowledgeable understanding of manufacturing processes, complex system design, electrical integration, machine operation and control. Experience managing engineering projects across the full product development lifecycle. Excellent organisational, communication and leadership skills. Familiarity with regulated engineering environments and safety standards. Experience implementing engineering process improvements or design standardisation initiatives. Strong technical judgement and attention to detail. Commercial awareness and understanding of cost-drivers in manufacturing. Proactive problem-solver. Structured, analytical and data-driven decision maker. Strong leadership capability with the ability to inspire, motivate and develop teams. Effective communicator across technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities within a dynamic engineering environment Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
