Our client has an opportunity for an Interconnects Design Engineer to join them on a contract basis for 6 months with possible extension. You will be designing bespoke electrical interconnects/cables suitable for the transmission of power, signal and data within and between subsystems in the products, developing and designing Test Equipment solutions for the next generation of weapons.
Role: Interconnects Design Engineer - Test Equipment Location: Stevenage is preferable however will also consider Bolton. Fully Onsite Hours: 37 per week Clearance: BPSS to start, SC to follow Hourly Rate: £50 UMB
What you'll be doing:
Interpret sub-system requirements and develop electrical cable designs to meet technical specifications. Produce electrical schematics using Microsoft Visio. Create and maintain cable design definitions and documentation using HarnWare. Investigate and resolve a wide range of cable design and installation issues, developing effective engineering solutions. Work independently and collaboratively within project teams to deliver design solutions. Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, resolving production and assembly-related issues. Support functional testing and environmental product trials, assisting with product validation and performance verification. Prepare and maintain accurate engineering documentation throughout the design lifecycle. Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure designs meet project, quality and customer requirements. Contribute to the successful delivery of complex and technically advanced engineering projects. Identify opportunities for design improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure all work is completed in accordance with engineering standards, processes and project timescales.Requirements:
Individuals will need to have demonstrable experience in cable/harness/interconnects design, using relevant design packages such as Visio and HarnWare. The ideal candidate will have:
A minimum 2 years' experience in the use of Visio and related products (Harnware). A proven ability to define, deploy, and refine processes and best practices within Visio and Harnware. - including; electrical topology, wiring schematics and 2D manufacturing drawing processes and standards. Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus significant experience in Interconnects/Harness Design and Development.
Thorough understanding of product data management and change management within Windchill or similar. The ability to design cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC and environmental requirements. An appreciation of cable assembly production/process engineering.
