Electrical Systems Design Engineer (Contract)
Location: Sandhurst (Hybrid – up to 3 days in the office) Rate: £45–£50 per hour (Outside IR35) Start: ASAP (latest start by the end of August)
We are currently looking for an experienced Electrical Systems Design Engineer to join a busy engineering team on a contract basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of control systems projects within the water industry, delivering electrical designs, retrofit solutions and supporting the delivery of automation systems. The role is primarily based from a new office in Sandhurst with occasional travel to sites across the South East for surveying purposes.
Key Responsibilities
Design control system solutions including PLCs, SCADA/HMI, telemetry and industrial networks. Design and retrofit electrical control panels. Produce electrical drawings, network architecture drawings and general arrangement drawings using EPLAN. Prepare and configure system design documentation. Assist in the production of Functional Design Specifications (FDS) and System Design Specifications (SDS). Identify electrical equipment and instrumentation requirements and support procurement scheduling. Carry out and manage occasional site surveys. Modify and update existing electrical drawings where required.
Requirements
Previous experience as an Electrical Systems Design Engineer or in a similar controls engineering role. Previous experience working within the water industry is essential. Strong knowledge of EPLAN is essential. Ability to read, interpret and modify electrical drawings. Experience designing control systems incorporating PLCs, SCADA/HMI and industrial networks. Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to design. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills. Full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake occasional site surveys across the South East.
Contract Details
£45–£50 per hour Outside IR35 Hybrid working available (up to 3 days in the office) Monday to Friday Immediate start available, with flexibility for candidates able to start by the end of August.
