Job Description

Are you an Electrical/Electronics Test Engineer passionate about high-voltage systems in cutting-edge automotive projects? At ALTEN UK, we are looking for talented engineers to join us as consultants, working on innovative R&D and validation projects for industry-leading clients. This is your opportunity to be part of the future of electrification, working on high-performance EV powertrains, batteries, and control systems in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Location: 

Gaydon (Hybrid Full-time)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute high-voltage electrical/electronics testing for automotive powertrain components, batteries, inverters, and charging systems.
  • Perform insulation resistance, HiPot (dielectric withstand), partial discharge, and EMC testing to ensure compliance with automotive and safety standards.
  • Support test planning, setup, and execution in hardware-in-the-loop (HIL), dynamometer, and environmental test labs.
  • Analyse test results, diagnose issues, and work closely with design and validation teams to improve electrical performance and reliability.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 26262 (Functional Safety), LV123, IEC 60664, and automotive OEM standards.
  • Provide technical reports and recommendations to enhance high-voltage system robustness and efficiency.

 

Qualifications

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Automotive Engineering.
  • Experience with high-voltage electrical systems (400V-800V) in EV/Hybrid vehicles, battery technology, or power electronics.
  • Knowledge of automotive testing standards (ISO 21498, LV123, LV148, UN ECE R100, or IEC 61851).
  • Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power analysers, insulation testers, and HV safety protocols.
  • Familiarity with MATLAB, Simulink, CANalyzer, CANoe, and Python for data analysis and test automation is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and EMC compliance.
