Electrical Tester - Commercial Construction

APEX Contracting Solutions is seeking an experienced Electrical Tester for a commercial construction project in Oxford.

This is a long-term contract.

Hours: 7:30am–4:00pm

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing and certifying new and altered electrical installations. Applicants must have recent hands-on testing experience within commercial construction or fit-out environments.

This is not a PAT-testing, product-testing or supervisory position.

Responsibilities

* Carrying out initial verification of new and altered electrical installations

* Completing dead and live testing on distribution boards and final circuits

* Performing continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, Zs, RCD, prospective fault-current and functional tests

* Completing Electrical Installation Certificates, schedules of inspections and test-result schedules

* Checking installations against drawings, circuit schedules and BS 7671

* Identifying non-compliant work and communicating required remedial actions

* Undertaking fault finding and assisting with remedial work

* Working alongside electricians, supervisors and the project-management team

* Maintaining accurate testing and handover documentation

* Following site safety and safe-isolation procedures

Essential requirements

* Recent commercial construction-site testing experience

* City & Guilds 2391-50 or 2391-52, or a recognised initial-verification equivalent such as 2394

* Current 18th Edition qualification

* Valid ECS/JIB Gold Card

* Experience completing EICs and associated testing schedules

* Right to work in the UK

* Able to commute reliably to Oxford, OX4

Desirable

* IPAF

* Own calibrated testing equipment

* Experience using electronic certification software

* Experience testing lighting, small power and distribution installations on commercial fit-out projects

* Experience completing EICRs and remedial works
