What will you be doing? 

ALTEN is looking for a skilled and detail-oriented Electrical Wiring Technician to support one of our key rail sector projects. You will be involved in modifying and wiring Train Control & Management System (TCMS) racks within a structured lab environment.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Modifying and reconfiguring Rittal rack enclosures for TCMS applications
• Installing and routing cables/connectors including: Harting, M12, RJ45, D-Sub, Phoenix
• Assembling basket trays/trunking systems
• Using tools such as crimping tools, multimeters, and label printers (TE T3212)
• Reading and updating P2P documentation (Excel-based) for traceability and quality

Who are we looking for? 

• Working with Huber + Suhner cables (e.g., GKW, RADOX, DATABUS)
• Point-to-Point documentation (Excel)
• Terminating wiring using WAGO terminals, DIN rail components
• Following engineering wiring diagrams and redline drawings
• Working to railway standards and maintaining structured, high-quality wiring practices

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

• Rack wiring and modification in the rail, automotive or defence sector
• Ability to work independently and follow modification packs
• Previous experience in a lab-based wiring role is a bonus
• A degree in engineering
