Electrical/Senior Engineer Building Services

Combining technical due diligence, compliance and certification with commissioning and engineering design into a single integrated organisation, they can move rapidly from understanding the issue and identifying the problem to devising a solution and implementing it. This simplifies points of contact, saves time and reduces risk. Our client are looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer or Senior to join either their Glasgow or Edinburgh office. This a great opportunity for an engineer looking become more well-rounded and commercially aware. Liaising with Building Surveyors and Quantity Surveyors to develop innovative, new solutions. They work across the commercial, industrial, defence, healthcare sectors and more. Projects can vary from £2 grand surveys to £100m office-fit outs, however projects tend to be small-medium sized.

Role

• Ensuring an understanding of project briefs. Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems .
• Design and specification of all Electrical Building Services systems - power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection etc.
• Carry out (and managing of others), in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, dialux, Amtech, in-house developed tools, etc.
• Representing the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
• Site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
• Report and technical note writing.
• Maintaining complete records and archives to company standards.
• Adherence to all quality, environmental and governance processes.

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Electrical Engineering
• Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
• 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of electrical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills, experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards, able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools
