Job Description - Electrician

What you’ll do:

To install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures.

To be responsible for the provision of effective and efficient electrical maintenance / installation service to the plant.

•    Undertake installation, maintenance and defective repair work as indicated by the computerised Work-Order system
•    Maintain records and documentation as appropriate
•    Undertake portable appliance testing as required
•    Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using both hand tools and power tools. This may include work from ladders, scaffolds and roofs, as necessary.
•    Diagnose faulty systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and instigate corrective action.
•    Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
•    Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
•    Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be deemed dangerous.
•    Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
•    Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes.
•    Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including ammeters, and test lamps.
•    Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors.
•    Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes.
•    Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets.
•    Ensure compliance with statutory and Eaton MESH requirements at all times.
•    Keep up to date in technical developments and new product introduction
•    Assist in the Technical Training of Electrical apprentices, as and when required
•    Embrace EBS (Eaton Business Systems)

Qualifications:

Skills:

•    Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
•    Knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of houses, buildings or other structures.
•    An understanding of potable appliance testing
•    Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, and geometry.
•    Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
•    Installation of equipment, machines, wiring, or programs to meet specifications.
•    Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.
•    Determining the type of tools and equipment needed to do a job.
•    Repairing machines or systems using the needed tools.
•    Considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.

•    Managing one's own time and the time of others.
•    Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.

•    Apprentice trained essential
•    Fully conversant with 18th Edition Regulations
•    Counterbalance Fork-lift Truck licence advantageous
