Electrician – Highways Electrical

Location: Hale Depot, Wilmslow Roundabout, WA15 8XL — with travel across the Area 10 network
Salary: Basic Salary: £46,000 + 14% Shift Allowance – OTE: £75,000 PA
On Call Allowance: £200 Per Month
Working pattern: Two weeks of days followed by two weeks of nights, with participation in an emergency call-out rota

Ardour Associates is recruiting an Electrician to join our client’s Area 10 highways team.

This is an opportunity to put your electrical expertise to work on essential infrastructure, helping keep the strategic road network safe and operational.

You’ll carry out installation, maintenance, testing and repairs across a range of highways electrical assets, including street lighting, illuminated signs, feeder pillars and bollards. The role offers varied, hands-on work, alongside ongoing training and opportunities to develop your career.

The role

Your responsibilities will include:

* Installing, maintaining and repairing highways electrical assets.

* Carrying out planned maintenance in line with contract requirements and industry standards.

* Undertaking electrical inspection, testing and fault diagnosis across the network and depot facilities.

* Responding to electrical faults, emergency call-outs and reactive maintenance as part of a rota.

* Completing electrical test certificates, work records and asset documentation accurately.

* Following safe working practices to protect colleagues, road users and the public.

* Supporting apprentices and operatives on site.

* Operating vehicles, plant and equipment safely, including working outdoors and at height where required.

What we’re looking for

You’ll need:

* NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations.

* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.

* A full UK driving licence.

* Strong electrical fault-finding, testing and problem-solving skills.

* City & Guilds 2365 / 2330 or equivalent electrical qualification

* A proactive, reliable approach and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Flexibility to work the rotating day/night shift pattern and take part in the emergency call-out rota.

The following would be an advantage:

* City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing qualification.

* G39 certification.

* Streetworks qualification.

* IPAF certification.

* HGV licence.

* Previous experience in highways electrical maintenance or street lighting.
