Job Description - Electronic Service & Repair Engineer
Are you an Electronic Service & Repair Engineer with hands-on electronics repair, calibration and diagnostic experience?
My client, based in Kent, is looking for an Electronic Service & Repair Engineer to join their growing service team. They are a specialist in advanced imaging and sensing solutions, designing and manufacturing thermal imaging, infrared camera and sensor systems used across defence, security, industrial inspection and public safety applications.
The role is site-based, with occasional travel, in Kent and will involve working as part of a collaborative service organisation responsible for the evaluation, failure diagnosis, repair, calibration and adjustment of thermal imaging products and systems.
Responsibilities for the Electronic Service & Repair Engineer based in Kent:
Evaluate, diagnose, repair, calibrate and adjust thermal imaging products, infrared cameras and associated sensor systems. Use knowledge of electronic theory, thermography and optics to complete daily service, fault-finding and technical support activities. Work closely with Customer Service, the Service Manager and wider technical teams, providing timely updates and clear progress reports. Engage with customers where needed to explain complex technical issues, service findings and proposed repair solutions. Operate hand tools and electronic test equipment to support product evaluation, repair, calibration and verification. Perform software and firmware updates on camera products, using computer systems and embedded programming knowledge where appropriate.
Skills and requirements for the Electronic Service & Repair Engineer based in Kent:
Qualification in electronics, engineering or equivalent practical experience. Hands-on experience in electronics repair, assembly, service or calibration. Ability to operate electronic test equipment and confidently navigate computer operating systems. Understanding of metrology principles, calibration processes and laboratory operations. Experience with thermography, optics, SAP PR1, Oracle ticketing systems, embedded programming or camera products would be beneficial. Able to work at a bench and from a standing position, with the ability to lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs from time to time. Eligibility to apply for and obtain the appropriate export control licence where required.
