Proven experience in a Buyer or similar procurement-focused role within a manufacturing environment.
A leading advanced technology and logistics business are currently recruiting for a Buyer on a full-time, permanent basis in Wallingford.
Role - Buyer Type - Permanent Location - South Oxford (hybrid 3 days on site after the first few months) Salary - £50,000 + benefits
Key responsibilities for the Buyer will include and will not be limited to:
Create and manage purchase orders for raw materials, components, and outsourced assemblies in line with production schedules Liaise with suppliers to confirm order acknowledgements, delivery dates, and shipment details Expedite or defer orders to align with changing demand and production priorities Monitor supplier performance across delivery and responsiveness, escalating issues where required Collaborate with planning, production, and warehouse teams to support material availability and inventory accuracy Track and resolve supply issues including shortages, delays, quality concerns, and invoice discrepancies Support onboarding of new suppliers and contract manufacturers by setting up transactional purchasing processes
Key skills and experience required for Buyer job applicant and will not be limited to:
Experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain (circa 3+ years) Background supporting manufacturing operations, ideally buying direct materials or components Strong supplier communication skills with a practical, problem-solving approach to delivery and supply issues Ability to work cross-functionally with planning, production, engineering, and warehouse teams Understanding of inventory, delivery scheduling, and production priorities in a fast-paced environment Familiarity with outsourced assemblies or contract manufacturing environments (desirable) Working knowledge of Incoterms, logistics, and international purchasing (desirable)
