What will you be doing? 

As an Electronics Design engineer, you will join our team in Birmingham to support our activities within the aerospace sector. We are seeking a skilled engineer to contribute to the design, development, and testing of advanced electronic and electrical systems, including power converters, circuit boards, and embedded systems. You’ll play a crucial role in integrating state-of-the-art power electronics technologies and collaborating with key stakeholders to drive innovation.

Your main responsibilities will be: 

• Design, develop, and test electronic and electrical hardware components, including analogue and digital circuit design, power units, and processing elements.
• Research and integrate advanced power electronics components, such as new power devices, passive components, magnetics, and cooling technologies.
• Collaborate with suppliers and stakeholders to source and implement innovative technologies for power electronics systems.
• Develop component, sub-system, and system-level models to accelerate design, development, and testing activities.
• Work on power electronics converter integration, ensuring seamless operation with associated components such as electrical machines, power networks, and control systems.
• Write and review technical reports, architecture documents, test plans, and procedures, ensuring compliance with DO160E-G and DO254 standards.

Experience, skills and qualifications required: 

• 7+ years of experience in electronics design engineering.
• Strong background in analogue and digital circuit design, including power supply and embedded systems.
• Hands-on experience with high-voltage testing and working within electronics unit design life cycles.
• Familiarity with EMC, gate drives, sensors, and 3D printing.
• Ability to perform requirement analysis, develop architecture documents, and integrate design instructions for PCB and thermal engineers.
• Experience working within Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and designing electronic units for aerospace and defence applications.
