Electronics Test & Quality Engineer

Our client in Sheffield is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Electronics Test & Quality Engineer to join their innovative team. This exciting opportunity involves driving quality and testing excellence across the organisation, ensuring that products delivered to customers worldwide meet the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

In this hands-on role, the successful candidate will be instrumental in supporting multiple departments, including Engineering, Production, and Purchasing.

The primary responsibilities include:

Quality Assurance:

Raise, investigate, and manage internal, supplier, and customer non-conformance reports.
Lead or support root-cause investigations using methods such as 5 Whys and fishbone analysis.
Collaborate with various departments to agree on corrective and preventive actions, monitoring them through to effective closure.
Conduct internal audits of products, processes, and quality management systems.
Support the maintenance and continual improvement of the company's ISO 9001 quality management system.
Lead external certification audits and monitor quality trends and recurring defects.
Develop inspection standards, acceptance criteria, and quality-control documentation to promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

Technical Publications and Document Control:

Create and maintain test instructions, work instructions, and inspection procedures.
Translate complex engineering information into clear documentation for production teams and customers.
Ensure that all documentation accurately reflects current product designs and manufacturing processes.
Assist in the preparation of technical files and product certification documentation.
Produce clear technical reports summarising investigations and recommendations, alongside training materials for personnel.

Cross-Functional Support:

Collaborate closely with Electronics Design Engineers to communicate test results and recommend design improvements.
Support Production with technical queries, fault diagnosis, and process enhancements.
Liaise with Purchasing and suppliers on component quality and technical issues.
Provide technical evidence for customer service and warranty investigations.
Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and product-improvement projects.
Assist in the development and implementation of suitable production test equipment and fixtures.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 standards and quality management systems is a plus.
