Embedded Software Engineer (C/C++)

Rate: £70.00 per hour (Inside IR35)
Contract: 37 hours per week
Duration: Initial 6-month contract
Location: Bristol – Onsite

Certain Advantage is hiring for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join a leading defence company.

Key Responsibilities

Perform Verification & Validation (V&V) activities for real-time embedded software applications.
Translate software requirements into comprehensive test cases and structured test procedures.
Prepare, execute, and document software tests, ensuring accurate data capture and analysis.
Provide clear, actionable feedback to engineering and project teams to support software quality and continuous improvement.
Investigate issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and support software integration activities.
Work within laboratory environments, testing embedded software on electro-mechanical systems. 
The individual:

Proven experience delivering V&V activities within an embedded software environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a methodical approach to debugging.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical documentation.
Experience converting software requirements into structured test cases and test procedures.
Hands-on experience testing embedded software on electro-mechanical products in a laboratory environment.
Good understanding of the full software development lifecycle.
Scripting experience to support automation and testing activities.
Embedded software development experience using C/C++.
