Job Description - EMEA Capability Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION:

About Abbott

Our nutrition business develops science-based nutrition products for people of all ages, from helping babies and children grow, to keeping adult bodies strong and active. Millions of people around the world count on our leading brands – including Similac®, PediaSure®, Pedialyte®, Ensure®, Glucerna® and ZonePerfect® – to help get the nutrients they need to live their healthiest life.

We are seeking an experienced and forward‑thinking EMEA Capability Manager to build and scale the next generation of commercial capabilities across the region.

About the Role

The EMEA Capability Manager plays a pivotal role in elevating commercial performance across markets by identifying capability gaps, designing and deploying best‑in‑class learning programs, and embedding excellence across field force, marketing, and cross-functional teams.

Reporting to the EMEA Head of Commercial Excellence, you will work closely with the Sales Force Effectiveness (SFE) Manager, Regional Functional Leads (Marketing, Insights, Digital, Innovation), and Market teams to ensure capability-building initiatives are strategic, impactful, and locally relevant.

This is a highly visible role that directly supports execution excellence and long-term commercial growth across the ANI portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

Capability Strategy & Program Design

  • Assess capability needs across EMEA in partnership with Commercial Excellence, SFE, and Marketing leadership.

  • Design and deliver capability-building programs across sales, marketing, omnichannel engagement, and cross-functional collaboration.

  • Work with the SFE Manager to embed field force excellence frameworks and continuous training.

  • Integrate functional expertise—Digital, Insights, Innovation—into capability initiatives.

Regional Enablement & Execution

  • Support local markets in adapting, implementing, and sustaining capability programs to ensure operational and cultural relevance.

  • Maintain a central repository of best practices, toolkits, and learning assets accessible across all EMEA markets.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Marketing, Digital, Innovation, and Insights leads to address evolving commercial capability needs.

  • Serve as a bridge between Area and Market teams, ensuring co‑creation, alignment and successful adoption of capability initiatives.

  • Partner with Global Capability and HR teams to align with enterprise learning frameworks and digital learning tools.

Future Evolution of the Role

As commercial capabilities evolve, the Capability Manager will increasingly leverage technology—AI-driven learning platforms, digital coaching tools, and predictive analytics— to scale learning and personalise development. The role will shift from training delivery to capability orchestration, embedding learning into everyday workflows and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and experimentation across the region.

Key Capability Areas to Drive Across EMEA

  • Field force effectiveness and customer engagement excellence

  • Omnichannel marketing and digital fluency

  • Data literacy and insight‑driven decision-making

  • Cross‑functional collaboration and agile ways of working

  • Leadership and coaching capabilities for first-line managers

Required Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in capability development, commercial excellence, or learning & development, ideally within healthcare, nutrition, or FMCG.

  • Strong understanding of sales force effectiveness, marketing, and omnichannel engagement.

  • Experience designing and deploying capability programs across multiple markets.

  • Ability to work cross‑functionally and influence senior stakeholders in a matrixed environment.

  • Familiarity with digital learning platforms, coaching technologies, and performance analytics.

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and project management skills.

  • Skilled in change management and fostering a culture of continuous learning.

  • Experience working in multicultural, regional, or global organisations.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Learning & Development, or related field (Master’s preferred).
