Description

We are looking for a talented Emissions Mechanical Maintenance Technician to join our team specializing in Manufacturing for Cummins Darlington, County Durham, United Kingdom.


This is a permanent onsite role with the required working rota of: 


Weekend shifts working days 7:00am – 7:00pm and nights 7:00pm – 7:00am on a rotating 4-week cycle:



  • Fri/Sat/Sun Days

  • Fri/Sat/Sun Nights

  • Fri/Sat/Sun/Mon Days

  • Fri/Sat/Sun Nights


 


In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways: 


 




  • The role involves a combination of primarily responding to Emissions Measurement Equipment breakdown along with servicing of equipment and ancillary systems. The priority of the job is to ensure that all emissions measurement equipment is in a position to run tests. 



  • Once all emissions measurement equipment is functional, the priority is to aid in supporting the actual engine tests.



  • The Job Holder will be required to work on the 24/7 shift arrangements and, together with the other teams, provide a 24/7 support of the maintenance and breakdown activities.  The Job holder will be required to work independently and with limited supervision. They will be responsible for prioritizing their own work in line with work objectives and make decisions that will increase productivity across the site. 



  • The job holder is responsible for a wide range of duties. This includes maintenance of Test Cell Emissions Measurement Equipment and Support Systems to planned regimes, breakdown support as well as assist with guidance in the running of engines tests.



  • The role requires the job holder to give particular attention to safety. They must first assess a problem and safety risks before tackling the repair. This involves talking to the employees (managers, operators or engineers) to understand the nature of the issue.



  • Job holders may need to order parts, working with external suppliers to find the best price and quickest delivery time.




Responsibilities

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

 

  • Previous experience in mechanical maintenance, with hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment, with the ability to support continuous improvement through effective maintenance practices and process enhancements.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams, build strong working relationships, and provide customer-focused support.
  • Strong commitment to safety, with the ability to identify and control electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic hazards while making sound decisions to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.


Qualifications

Education/ Experience:

•    HNC qualified in related field 
•    NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds 2365 Level 3
