Job Description - Engine Fitter

Engine Fitter / Mechanical Technician
Location: Telford
Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Industry: Engineering / Defence / Remanufacturing

As a dedicated engineering recruiter, I’m currently supporting a highly respected organisation in the defence and engineering sector that is looking to strengthen its technical team. We’re seeking an experienced Engine Fitter / Mechanical Technician to join their specialist workshop in Coventry.

This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong mechanical background, particularly in engine fitting or remanufacturing, who takes pride in precision work and thrives in a structured, quality-focused environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and strip down mechanical products in line with detailed work instructions.
  • Follow all MOD-specific requirements, including component traceability and strip/survey reporting.
  • Evaluate components for serviceability and determine suitability for reuse or replacement.
  • Accurately record additional Bill of Materials (BOM) requirements and job documentation.
  • Rebuild and test products to OE or AESP specifications.
  • Report faults and escalate issues to the Workshop Supervisor as needed.
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship while working efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Ensure full compliance with company health & safety, quality, and operational procedures.
  • Record daily job activities using the internal E10 system.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Previous experience in engine fitting, mechanical assembly, or remanufacturing roles.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and a keen eye for detail.
  • Clear and confident communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel—or a willingness to learn.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and a willingness to continuously improve.
Why Consider This Role?

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a company that plays a key role in supporting defence and engineering excellence. You’ll be part of a skilled and supportive team, working in a well-equipped facility with a strong focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.
