The Opportunity

Mploy Group is recruiting for an ambitious Commercial Manager / Director Designate to join a growing engineering and manufacturing business based in Cheltenham.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially driven individual with a background in engineering, manufacturing or technical sales to take ownership of business development, customer relationships and commercial strategy.

The business specialises in precision manufacturing, including laser cutting, waterjet cutting, tube and beam processing, supplying high-quality engineered components to a range of industries.

Working from a well-equipped manufacturing facility, you will play a pivotal role in developing the customer base, maximising manufacturing capacity and identifying new revenue opportunities.

This position offers genuine scope to develop into a senior leadership role, with the potential to progress towards a directorship as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

Lead commercial activities, driving sales growth and identifying new business opportunities.

*

Develop and execute a commercial strategy aligned with manufacturing capabilities.

*

Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing customers.

*

Identify opportunities across engineering, manufacturing and industrial sectors.

*

Prepare accurate costings, quotations, proposals and tenders for manufacturing projects.

*

Work closely with production teams to understand capacity, capabilities and project requirements.

*

Conduct customer visits to assess technical requirements and recommend appropriate manufacturing solutions.

*

Develop marketing materials and commercial initiatives to promote the business.

*

Negotiate commercial agreements and manage customer expectations.

*

Identify opportunities to expand the customer base across the South West and wider UK.

*

Support sales forecasting, commercial reporting and strategic business planning.

*

Represent the business professionally, promoting its technical expertise, quality and service.

Experience & Skills

*

Experience in technical sales, business development, commercial management or a related engineering role.

*

A background within manufacturing, precision engineering, fabrication or machining would be highly advantageous.

*

Understanding of manufacturing processes, machine tools, laser cutting, waterjet cutting or CNC machining would be beneficial.

*

Ability to interpret customer requirements and develop commercially viable solutions.

*

Experience preparing quotations, costing projects and negotiating contracts.

*

Strong communication, relationship-building and commercial negotiation skills.

*

A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ambition to develop and grow a business.

*

Willingness to travel to customer sites throughout the South West and wider UK.
