Are you an experienced electrician or fit-out engineer looking to step off the tools and share your expertise? Do you have a passion for mentoring apprentices or perhaps you’re already coaching sports in your spare time and would like to bring that experience into your work life? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

About the Company:

At TQR Plymouth, we are proud to partner with a leading manufacturer renowned for exceptional craftsmanship and innovation. Our client values their workforce as their greatest asset and is committed to investing in their development and growth. Join their People, Talent & Culture team to play a key role in shaping the future of their workforce.

The Role:

We are seeking an experienced engineer or electrician to deliver high-quality mechanical and electrical engineering training to support the growth and development of the workforce and apprentices. In this exciting role, you will work closely with various teams to enhance skills, ensure safety, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Main Purpose of Role:

To partner with stakeholders across the business in designing and delivering targeted training programs that drive technical expertise, standardise assessments, foster workforce development, promote safe working practices, and meet industry regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Use a range of technical skills and knowledge, in combination with a selection of learning and facilitation techniques to direct learning, including on-the-job, off-the-job, and remote delivery.
  • Design learning sessions to meet the specified aims and objectives of the training and the differentiated needs of learners. Don’t worry if you’re not already confident in this area as you’ll get loads of support!
  • Deliver training using a range of learning methodologies ensuring learners are managed, motivated, coached, and supported to achieve the intended learning outcomes.
  • Foster and maintain a safe, inclusive, and effective environment to enable learner engagement and participation, and overcome potential barriers to learning.
  • Conduct learner assessments, using the specified assessment strategy, to evaluate and record outcomes. Analyse assessment results and, where relevant, support development plans to ensure that individuals achieve the intended learning outcomes.
  • Provide Technical and Compliance training assurance across multiple sites and varying shift patterns.
  • Support with the administration of the apprentice programme.

Person Specification:

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of 4 years Electrical and/or Mechanical engineering experience.
  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, in either Marine engineering/Electronics/Mechanical engineering.
  • A passion for training and helping others learn.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent planning, organising, and prioritising skills.
  • Positive attitude towards change and a role model for the business.
  • Flexibility to work across all sites and support various shift patterns.
  • Customer-focused and the ability to work with stakeholders business-wide.
  • Ability to deal sensitively and appropriately with confidential information.
  • Desire to work towards teaching qualifications and accreditation.

Ideal Candidate:

This role is perfect for electricians or fit-out engineers looking to come off their tools, or experienced candidates who enjoy sharing their knowledge with others. Those with experience mentoring apprentices or suitably qualified candidates who might be sports coaches in their life outside work will find this opportunity particularly rewarding.
