Engineering Manager

A strategic engineering leadership role in a complex, heavily regulated manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity to shape the culture, capability, and compliance standards of a long-established site with serious ambitions for the future.

We’re supporting a privately owned manufacturer in Derbyshire to appoint a site-level Engineering Manager. Reporting to the Head of Operations and forming part of the senior team, you’ll take full accountability for maintenance, reliability, statutory compliance, and capital projects.

This is not just about managing a team – it’s about raising standards, driving performance, and embedding a preventative maintenance culture that supports production and long-term investment plans.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the site’s engineering and maintenance function, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and internal standards
• Oversee delivery of the CAPEX and major maintenance programme
• Implement and drive forward TPM and reliability-centred maintenance practices
• Act as Duty Holder for statutory engineering compliance
• Mentor and develop the in-house maintenance team, including apprentices and technicians
• Maintain a robust project pipeline using structured project management methodology
• Work cross-functionally to embed engineering safety standards and improve asset performance

We’re looking for:

• Proven engineering leadership experience in heavy manufacturing or process environments
• HNC/D or equivalent in an engineering discipline (IEng status desirable)
• Strong project and operational management experience
• Excellent knowledge of TPM, WCOM or other CI frameworks
• Familiarity with ISO9001/45001 and permit-to-work systems
• A calm, supportive leader who’s resilient under pressure and capable of holding people to account
