Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience Location: Hull Hours: Full-time, Contract of 6months maximum but has a possibility to go perm for the right candidate. We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to join our hospital leadership team. Reporting directly to the Hospital Director, you will be responsible for maintaining the hospital estate, building services, engineering infrastructure, and equipment in a safe, compliant, and cost-effective manner.
The role combines both strategic leadership and hands-on engineering responsibilities, with approximately 40% management duties and 60% operational & hands on involvement.
As Engineering Manager, you will ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, healthcare engineering standards, and Healthcare policies while maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, contractors, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage all aspects of health and safety within the hospital, including co-ordination and maintenance of the hospital risk register. Develop and implement comprehensive planned preventative maintenance (PPM) programmes using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Commission, record, schedule and maintain all engineering assets and equipment on the CMMS. Maintain and continuously update the hospital asset register. Develop and manage effective asset management procedures for engineering plant, equipment and hospital assets. Identify, prioritise and report engineering infrastructure and compliance risks. Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and regulatory inspections. Develop and deliver the annual Engineering Estates Plan, including building fabric maintenance. Manage site energy performance through Building Management Systems (BMS), Energy Remote Monitoring (ERM), and benchmarking reports. Provide day-to-day maintenance services across the hospital estate. Participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota. Knowledge & Technical Skills:
Healthcare experience is a MUST Extensive knowledge of building services and engineering systems. Strong understanding of healthcare engineering compliance and HTM guidance. Ability to prioritise workloads and manage resources effectively. Experience negotiating service levels and managing supplier relationships. Strong understanding of risk management and statutory compliance. Personal Attributes:
