We're pleased to share details of this incredible opportunity for an Engineering Manager, based in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.
You'll be responsible for leading and developing the Engineering team and delivering innovative, commercially successful and manufacturable products through effective project management, people leadership and cross-functional collaboration.
The role focusses primarily on leadership - of the team, engineering projects and the overall direction of the department - with a secondary part of the role being practical work within the team (approximately 70% management and 30% practical work).
You'll be a natural leader who enjoys managing a team, inspiring a team and budget management as well as the following four key areas:
Developing strategic technology and product development plan
Lead the team to deliver engineering projects on plan & on budget
Build a network with external partners
Provide engineering support as required
You'll be used to managing a multidisciplinary engineering team, with the experience in coaching and developing engineers, managing change and building confidence within a team to try new approaches, but also have:
A strong understanding of Design for Manufacture, Assembly and Test, ensuring products are reliable, cost-effective and easy to build, calibrate, service and support throughout their lifecycle. Curious and prepared to explore new technology. Growth mindset, with mistakes viewed as learning opportunities. Strong commercial awareness, with emphasis on customer needs, cost implications, return on investment and market opportunities. Collaborative leadership style, bringing departments and disciplines together. Resilient, maintaining momentum when plans change or ideas fail. SME manufacturing experience.A Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics or related discipline is essential.
Any leadership, management or project management qualifications would be beneficial.
ISO9001 knowledge and/or supplier development experience would be a bonus.
Travel will be within the UK and internationally.
