A globally recognised organisation is undergoing a major digital transformation and is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-performance software solutions.

This is a hands-on leadership role—you won’t be expected to code, but you’ll work closely with engineers across full-stack teams, guiding delivery, shaping architecture, and driving technical excellence.

You’ll initially manage consultancy-based engineering teams, with no direct employee line management. Longer term, you’ll play a key role in building and growing a permanent team.

• Lead agile squads of external engineers, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement

• Define and execute full-stack development strategies using Java or React, alongside AWS, Microservices, and DevOps

• Translate technical requirements into actionable plans and present solutions to stakeholders

• Champion modern DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines

• Drive architectural decisions and ensure software quality, security, and performance

• Act as a bridge between engineering and business functions, influencing across the organisation

• Proven experience in enterprise-level software engineering programmes

• Strong technical foundation in Java or React, with AWS experience

• Experience leading agile development teams and working with consultancy partners

• Deep understanding of DevOps tools and CI/CD automation

• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
